10 changes in 'Tax Stories' as of 2026
This time, the changes affect how 'Tax Stories' (TS) publications will be available in the future. What will change?
The free section will stay. The existing subscribers will continue to have access to most of the latest blogs, podcasts, books, and other valuable content.
Some blogs and the archive will now be available only to paying subscribers. Some content as of now will be available to paid subscribers only (selected at the author’s discretion). With the paid section, I’d like to better understand who is most interested in this content and who really appreciates it. In this way, I am trying to build a community of people most interested in TS.
Book - in May. If all goes well, my first book with a selection of 100 TS blogs (from the ~700 published so far) will be released in May. It would not be fair to book buyers if the same content were available for free on the internet.
EUR 7 per month or EUR 70 per year. You can decide for yourself whether TS content is worth the price of a couple of cups of coffee per month. What’s more, until January 10, an annual subscription will cost only EUR 54 - here is a link to the Paid Subscriptions Launch Offer.
Corporate members - starting at EUR 210 per year. 20% discount if 2 or more subscribers from the same company sign up. This is a new opportunity for companies. The option to become a corporate member of the TS community has been introduced. At a minimum, in addition to the subscriber options, this will allow you to:
expense the TS publications, as well as
recommend topics that are important to your business and should be researched or at least given attention.
Chat. In order to create a community of TS enthusiasts and discuss topics that interest you, I suggest using the TS chat function, which can be found on the TS blog website. It works like a Whatsapp chat – post a topic and any TS community member can comment on it.
English. There are plans to activate more blogs in English as well, as sections on tax theory, books, films, etc. may also be useful to people outside Latvia. I will also try to help the business audience in Lithuania and Estonia more, as many businesses operate throughout the Baltics, not just in Latvia. However, the primary focus will remain on people in Latvia. There are also plans to create audio versions of the English content.
Social networks and chats - much less frequently. The idea is to focus on creating content here, on the Substack platform, even without announcing the content created here on social networks or chats. This is starting to take up too much time, which is taken away from content creation. Other social networks and chats will only have a summary of what was published in the previous month.
Video - not just in podcasts. You may have noticed that podcasts are getting better and better technically. I will try to use the video format more and more here.
Bonus for recommending to others. I am always happy to receive your feedback, suggestions, or recommendations of TS to others. There are also separate thank-you bonuses for recommendations (refer or share):
1-month subscription - for 5 recommendations;
TS mug - for 10 recommendations;
30-minute conversation with the TS author - for 15 recommendations.
I will continue to improve the system, of course. But most importantly, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your interest in TS content so far. Each of the blogs, podcasts, and books is not only the result of hard work, but also a part of my heart and passion. To make your business more profitable or your life easier. Honestly. By the way, all TS blogs, podcasts, and books are still created by one person. I hope that this will create new opportunities for you to improve your business or life in the new year, 2026.
Yours,
Jānis Taukačs
P.S. As always, Sorainen’s team of more than 30 tax specialists is ready to take on larger business or private tax projects in the Baltics and worldwide. If this option is more interesting to you, I look forward to seeing you for coffee at Sorainen’s new office at 21 Antonijas Street, in the Magdalēnas quarter.
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
There's gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
